Anaplan XL Reporting supports Freeform reports.
A Freeform report is a hybrid query object that combines the flexibility of cell-based reporting, similar to Anaplan XL formulas, with the performance of grids. It's natively available for any type of dimensional data source as well as for relational ones, using a Pivot View.
From a grid
You can create a Freeform report by converting an existing grid from the right-click menu. Select Anaplan XL > Convert to > Freeform Report.
A message appears confirming to convert the Grid to a Freeform report. Select Yes. The report appears.
From Excel cells
You can insert a Freeform report from the Excel sheet by letting Anaplan XL analyze the surrounding ranges of any cell located in the projected data area.
This approach requires following a strict layout:
- The dimension to use for the columns, such as Scenario, must vertically align with the top left data cell (C9).
- The dimension to use for the rows, such as Account, must be added right above the first row header, on the same rows as the innermost columns headers.
- The dimensions to use as filters, such as Measures, Entity, and Date, must vertically align with the outermost row dimension, such as Account, three rows above the column dimensions.
- All member names must be text, not numbers. If you have numeric names, you must prefix them with an apostrophe.
Once this layout is properly setup, select any cell from the data area and select Create Freeform report here from the Visualise menu.
This creates a Freeform report and populates the data cells accordingly.
Freeform properties
You can force the data cells to refresh automatically whenever a filter member is changed. Select Refresh when filter cells change in the Freeform properties dialog from the Properties menu.
We recommend keeping Display error on invalid members selected. If this box is cleared, unknown members will have their data cleared, which could lead to data being inadvertently missed.
