Use the start menu item to automatically enable the add-in.

Use these steps to check when Anaplan XL Reporting add-in doesn't appear after installation.

Try each step in order, checking each time if the ribbon has appeared by restarting Excel.

Use the start menu item to automatically enable the add-in. See Install Anaplan XL Reporting.

    1. Select File, Options, Add-Ins.
    2. Select Manage > Disabled Items from the dropdown and Go. If there are any Disabled Items, they'll appear in the Disabled Items window.
    3. Select and enable everything in the list (any disabled items will impact the other add-ins, even if it's not Anaplan XL), and close the window before restarting Excel.
    1. Select File, Options, Trust Center, Add-Ins
    2. Select the Require Application Add-ins to be signed by the Trusted Publisher checkbox.

Select the Enable or Disable Anaplan XL item in the Windows Start menu.

If this doesn't work, run the following command to register Anaplan XL assemblies.

Windows Start button > Run then, depending on your computer:

"C:\Program Files\Anaplan\Anaplan XL Reporting\XLCubed.Excel.Installer.Utility.exe" /reg "C:\Program Files (x86)\Anaplan\Anaplan XL Reporting\XLCubed.Excel.Installer.Utility.exe" /reg

Check it doesn't appear as a disabled item in the registry. Sometimes, Excel may not list it as a disabled item even though it is disabled in the Registry.

Look in the location:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Excel\Resiliency\Disabled Items

The sub-folder below Office in the above location varies depending on the version of Office. For example:

    • Office 2013: 15.0
    • Office 2016: 16.0

If there is an entry in the above registry location, delete it.

If you don't have administrator rights, download and run the application in Removing any disabled items from the registry section.

Look in the location below. Adjust the version number.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Excel\Options

If the Anaplan XL add-in is present but is preceded by a blank or corrupted add-in, it won't load. For example, if it is present in OPEN1, but OPEN is blank, then Excel will stop loading add-ins before loading Anaplan XL.

This problem has a special way of acting. If you add the add-in from Excel again, the ribbon will show up, but it won't load the next time Excel is opened.

See prerequisites.

Run the command as an elevated administrator:

"C:\Program Files\Anaplan\Anaplan XL Reporting\XLCubed.Excel.Installer.Utility.exe" /fix "C:\Program Files (x86)\Anaplan\Anaplan XL Reporting\XLCubed.Excel.Installer.Utility.exe" /fix

Use Explorer to browse to %appdata%\Anaplan XL, and rename the Anaplan XL Excel Edition folder.

Windows Updates and other software installations can sometimes leave software components in an unusable state until the computer is restarted.

Open the Excel workbook, put =XL3Lookup in any cell, and select anywhere. If #NAME? appears where you entered =XL3Lookup, this means the functions are also not working. If there is a number in that location, it means that Anaplan XL functions are working, but the ribbon isn't loading.

Clear all add-ins, then select one at a time until you find the one that is conflicting with Anaplan XL.

Enable all other add-ins that are disabled.

This usually only applies if the Microsoft Office security settings are managed via Group Policy by your domain administrator or were configured via the Office Customization Tool.

The Automation security setting can limit the loading of the Anaplan XL ribbon if it isn't set to Macros enabled (default) .

More information about this setting can be found in these TechNet articles:

If the 'Visual Basic for Applications' and '.NET Programmability Support' components aren't installed, functions and the ribbon/menu may not work.

Solution:

  1. Go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, and select the entry for Microsoft Office.
  2. Change, Add or remove Features.
  3. Within the Office Shared Features > Visual Basic for Applications, ensure there isn't a cross against Visual Basic for Applications.
  4. Navigate to Microsoft Office Excel > .NET Programmability Support, ensure there isn't a cross against .NET Programmability Support.

Download and run the application from:

http://www.xlcubed.com/downloads/RemoveAllDisabledItems.zip

It'll pop up a console window and then delete any disabled add-in entries in the registry.
