You can undo the last change you made to a cell on a worksheet. Use this option if you make a mistake when you update your data, or to check the previous value of a cell.

You cannot undo a change made to a cell before you've opened a worksheet, or a change made by someone else. This means you can only undo a change you made while a worksheet is open.

Only the most recent cell change is reversible. To revert to an older cell value, right-click the cell and select Show history. Alternatively, select a cell and click the Cell history icon in the top-right of the grid. This displays older cell values, which you can manually re-enter.

If you update one or more cells in error, such as accidentally deleting data or pasting incorrect data, you can undo it. Use the default keyboard shortcut for undo on your operating system:

  • Ctrl-Z for Windows; or
  • Cmd-Z for macOS.
